PLAYING, RESEARCHING, SKETCHING...
Chess is an endless universe on a small board. It is a game, but not only. It is sport, but not really. It is art even if it does not deal with arts. It is calm, but violent. It is static, but very dynamic at the same time. It is figurative and often very abstract. It goes into sciences and disciplines as mathematics, psychology, logic, IT and artificial intelligence, literature, history, design etc.
While playing and researching emerged the work "Chess Notes" - 64 quick sketches,15x15cm each, ink on paper.

...INSTALLING...
Installation "Wohnzimmer eines Schachfanatikers", mixed media, 2022
This installation was presented within the exhibition “Umwandlung”. It tells a story about somebody who is mad about chess, but also about some parts of the history of chess, scandals in the chess world, about references to fine arts and literature. It is about the past and present of chess, about reality and madness. It connects the figurative and abstract categories in chess, which was the main idea and the concept of the exhibition in general.
...PERFORMING...
The performance took place in the installation during the vernissage of “Umwandlung”. Two chess players played a pretty exiting match and painted by playing. The chessboard was a semifinished oil painting, the figures had oil paints on their bottoms and left black and white traces following their moves. At the end of the game the painting was finished.
